THE NEW CONGA LAB is Maurizio's more academically and educationally oriented project, and it is entirely dedicated to his first instrument: conga drums.

The New Conga Drum is a dynamic online collection of studies, aiming at filling what is felt to be a gap in the realm of congas teaching, studying and practicing.

It does so by breaking down the core idiomatic components of its language, as manifest in congas' traditional repertoire, and developing from there studies and exercises which, although deeply rooted in the legacy of the instrument, are more universal in nature and point towards areas beyond its familiar stylistic constrains.
