The function of
this satellite website is to offer an exhaustive documentation of
the activity of Ezzthetic, an artists’s collective which I have
been a core member of from 2000 until its dissolution, in 2005.
The necessity for this publication comes from the state of total abandon
in which the original Ezzthetic website lays since the termination
of the collective’s activities.
www.ezzthetic.com, which you are welcome to visit, is now under the
exclusive control of its original creator, and financer, and in its
present state does not, to my opinion, serve either the purpose of
presenting a reasoned description of a supposingly active group, nor
of offering a retrospective documentation of its lifetime activities.
It does succeed, however, in portraying satisfactorily the formal
and aesthetic values that underpinned all collective’s actions,
and it is as valid as any of its productions in this respect.
MY STORY WITH
EZZTHETIC
I joined Ezzthetic
in the first months of 2001, shortly after its foundation by Leonardo
Gementi and Pierpaolo Vit, in a time when a chain of circumstances
were motivating me to spend a considerable portion of my time back
in my homeland.
The first production I was invited to take part in was BISMILLAH,
FEDELE D’AMORE, a theatre work produced by the actor and director
Paolo Antonio Simioni. An artistic love affair quickly bloomed between
me and the core team of ezzthetic after that show, and shortly after
it I was to make, for the first time in my adult life, the experience
of devoting three consecutive months to a full-time immersion in playful,
non finalised, team artistic creation, mainly in the company of Leonardo
Gementi, in his on-the-making recording/exhibition studio in Udine.
Within a couple of years, thanks to our joint efforts, the Ezzthetic
studio became an open workshop, and a sort of gravitational centre
that attracted many of the most radical and valid artists of the Triveneto
area of Italy: musicians, composers, actors, visual artists who, in
different occasions, left their mark on the Ezzthetic portfolio by
collaborating in one or more of their numerous interdisciplinary productions.
Visit the page
PEOPLE for a detailed list of the people involved in the Ezzthetic
adventure, and our PRODUCTIONS ARCHIVE for a chronological list of
the group’s public works.
